Jennifer Francis-Gehring was born and raised in Owensboro, KY. She went on a long adventure at the young age of eighteen to the big city of Louisville, KY, where she fell in love with culture, social justice, empowerment, and learning about life. Along the way, she became a social worker, a nurse, a therapist, and Yoga teacher. Jennifer continues to learn how to adjust her sails amidst life’s ups and downs daily while following her intuition of knowing and trusting exactly what her body and soul need in the moment, allowing her breath to guide movement of her body.
Jennifer became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2019 and currently provides therapy for survivors of sexual harm. Jennifer is passionate about educating everyone and anyone on the beauty of nervous systems, Polyvagal Theory, trauma stewardship, and restorative practices that create room for expansion and creativity to flourish. Jennifer creates training opportunities that educate her community about trauma and the ability to embody resilience and healing.
Jennifer loves spending time learning about cutting-edge treatments for trauma, being in nature, puttering in her backyard, sharing her love of Yoga, and spending time with all the creatures she adores – her husband Robert, her fur babies Kiwi and Abby, her horse life coaches - Cheyenne, Shadow, Chessie, and Banjo and their humans Cowboy Rick and Misty, her guardian tree - Lionel, Ice Bath Posse, Polyvagal Theory Posse, DnD Posse, Drumming Group Posse and all of her family, friends and co-workers who have loved her, supported her and said YES to her crazy and zany ideas over the years.
Jennifer created Bixlbee and their world from a simple invitation from her mother. "Please, write a children's book about the work you do. Please write it for me and for the world. You have so much to offer, you are a talented writer and help so many." Bixlbee was created out of love, hope and the power of saying yes to those things that are magical and provide moments of connection.
